Carole E. Peterson, the first woman to be House chief clerk in Utah, announced to Wednesday night that she is retiring in a few weeks. She has been chief clerk 20 years and has worked in the House a total of 30 years.

With the retirement earlier this year of longtime House staffer Hollace Parker, and the hiring by Speaker Greg Curtis of a personal chief of staff, Peterson's departure brings a new staff organization to the 75-member House.
