Obituary: Dorothy Hogan Jarrard Govers

Dorothy Hogan Jarrard Govers 1913 ~ 2005 Dorothy Hogan Jarrard Govers, age 92, of Canyon Lake, Calif., entered into eternal rest on Nov. 4, 2005. She was born April 28, 1913, in Thatcher, Idaho, to George Alma Hogan and Phoebe Suzanna Spillman Hogan. Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband Francis Keith Jarrard (Dec.1, 1979), one of her sons, Joseph Keith Jarrard (June 22, 1999) and two of her brothers, Wawn and Dean Hogan. She graduated from the Salt Lake General Hospital School of Nursing on May 19, 1936, and received her license to practice nursing from the State of Utah on June 4, 1936. On Aug. 28, 1936, she married Francis Keith Jarrard in Thatcher, Idaho, and they were sealed as husband and wife in the Salt Lake Temple on Oct. 23, 1953. They were blessed with three children - Jerry, Joe, and Sue. In January, 1972, she retired from Hill Air Force Base Hospital in Ogden, Utah. She married Adolph Govers on Nov. 17, 1983, and relocated to California. Dorothy is survived by her husband Adolph Govers of Canyon Lake, CA; a son Jerry Hogan Jarrard (Norma) of Menifee, Calif.; a daughter Suzann Jarrard Wilson of Mooresville, N.C; and a brother Gary Hogan (Karla) of Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a loving wife, beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt who enjoyed being with the family more than anything else. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, including eight grandchildren, 19 great-grand-children, one great-great grandson, and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family may pay their respects at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah, on Friday, Nov. 11. Viewing will be from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
