Julanne Coon 1924 - 2005 Julanne Susie Gillett Taylor Coon, our dear wife, mom, and grandma returned to her Heavenly Father on November 4, 2005 in Salt Lake City, UT. Julanne was born on January 5, 1924, in Magna, UT to James Mead and LaVona Jane Hansen Gillett. She was the eldest of six children and lived her life years in Lehi, American Fork, Garfield, Magna, Big River, CA and Salt Lake City. She graduated from Cyprus High in 1942. She married Clyde B Taylor in 1943, later divorced. Together they had seven children; Sandra, Denny, Jane, Jill, Jone, Susan, and Nancy. For the last 40 years she has been married to her sweetheart and eternal companion, Floyd Allen Coon. Mom loves the Lord and has a strong testimony of the Gospel. Prayers and Priesthood blessings were a comfort to her throughout her life. She loved to study the scriptures and enjoyed sharing her knowledge with others, especially the missionaries. She loved teaching gospel doctrine classes and attending education week at BYU. Mom was active in community affairs and worked tirelessly along with Laura Jo McDermaid and Beth Archilbald to better the town of Magna and the residents there. She worked to establish the first Rape Crisis Center on the west side of the valley. She enjoyed being with grandkids, bearing her testimony, growing flowers in Big River, going to Club with her girlfriends from school, eating Mexican food, and saying "wonderful." She also had a knack for making grandchildren think they were her "favorite." Mom had a beautiful smile and loved to share it with everyone. Julanne leaves behind her dear husband Floyd, daughters: Sandra (Brent-deceased) Thomas, Jill Julanne Robertson, Jane (Bill) Nice, Jone Johnson, Susan (Carl) Duckworth. Preceded in death by her parents, siblings, daughter, Nancy, son, Denny and son in law, Brent Thomas. Funeral services will be held at Magna Utah Stake Center 3084 So 8400 West on Thursday Nov. 10, 2005 at 11 am. The family will greet friends on Wed. evening, Nov. 9 from 6 to 8 at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W 2700 S Magna. Also, a viewing will be held 10:00-10:45 prior to services at the church. Internment will follow at the Lehi Cemetery. We would like to acknowledge and thank those who have supported us with love and care, as we lay our mom to rest. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Utah Boys Ranch or to a charity of choice. Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com.
