The Salt Lake County Library System has 19 branch libraries.

Here's a sampling of some different library activities:

Whitmore Library, 2197 E. Fort Union Blvd.:

Friday, Nov. 18, 4 p.m. — "Frog and Toad Fan Club," for grades K-1. Stories and learning-to-read activities for kindergartners and first-graders. Register beginning Nov. 1 at Whitmore's children's desk or call 944-7539.

Wednesday, Nov. 30, 7 p.m. — "Great Reads for Girls," a mother/daughter book club. For ages 8-12, with caregiver. Register at Whitmore's children's desk or call 944-7539.

Columbus Library, 2530 S. 500 East:

Wednesday, Nov. 30, 7 p.m. — Senior citizens book club. "People's Children," by Joanna Trollope will be discussed.

Draper Library, 1136 E. Pioneer Road:

Monday, Nov. 21, 7 p.m. — "Shhh . . . Pantomine," for families. Take an interactive trip with Nestor Bravo with an amusing performance combining mime, clown and comedy art.

East Millcreek Library, 2266 Evergreen Ave.:

Tuesday, Nov. 15, 7 p.m. — "Great Reads for Girls." For girls 8 and up with an adult caregiver. Join us for fun discussion, activities, crafts and treats. November: "Sly the Sleuth and the Pet Mysteries" by Donna Jo Napoli.

Saturday, Nov. 19, 2 p.m. — "No Girls Allowed." For boys, ages 7 and up. Snips, snails and funny book tales for boys.

Monday, Nov. 28, 7 p.m. — "Family Favorites Book Club." It's a book club for the whole family. We'll be having fun with favorite read-alouds for the whole family with trivia, discussions, crafts and other activities.

Holladay Library, 2150 E. Murray-Holladay Road:

Through Nov. 23 — "Thanksgiving Fun." Read a book and then take a guess at the giant jar of Thanksgiving candy.

Sandy Library, 10100 S. Petunia Way:

Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2 p.m. — "Choo Choo Train Story Time" for ages 2-6. Trains, planes and automobiles, oh my! We'll be vrooming around in this story time about things that move. No registration.

Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2 p.m. — "Teen Scene." Read "Tangerine" by Edward Bloor, then join us for talk, treats and fun. No registration.

Smith Library, 810 E. 3300 South:

Saturday, Nov. 12, 1 p.m. — "Imagine the Fun with Monsters," for ages 4-7. Use your imagination and make monster puppets. Crystal Sorensen will read monster stories to kick off Children's Book Week celebrated Nov. 14-19.

South Jordan Library, 10300 S. Beckstead Lane:

Thursday, Nov. 17, 1:30 p.m. — "Rainbow and You," for grades 1-3. Read "The Rainbow and You." We'll create a rainbow and do an art activity. Program is limited to 40 people. Please register to receive a ticket.

Saturday, Nov. 12, 2 p.m. — "Shhh. . . . Pantomime," for all ages. Nestor Bravo draws you into a magical world of stories told through mime, clown and comedy art.

Tuesday, Nov. 15, 7 p.m. — "Reading of 'Fun'-Damental," for families. Hide and seek family fun with games and reading.

Friday, Nov. 18, 3:30 p.m. — "Book of the Month Club," for kids, ages 7-12. Join us for a discussion of your favorite blast from the past adventure from Jon Scieska's Time Warp Trio series.
