One man is dead and his wife in critical condition after another driver swerved to miss a deer and hit their vehicle Wednesday.

Killed was:

Lowel Val Day, 68, of Beryl, Utah.

Day was killed when a Chevy Tahoe traveling eastbound on U-56 at about 6:40 p.m. near Cedar City swerved to avoid a deer in the road, lost control, collided with and rolled his Buick, which was westbound, according to a statement from Utah Highway Patrol trooper Jeff Nigbur.
