TORONTO — Mehmet Okur turned it around in a hurry for the Utah Jazz.
Coming off a bad performance against New Jersey, Okur had 29 points and 12 rebounds to lead Utah to a 99-84 victory over winless Toronto on Friday night.
Rookies Deron Williams and Andre Owens each added 15 points for the Jazz, whose commitment to winning was questioned by coach Jerry Sloan after their loss to the Nets on Wednesday night.
Okur managed just two points in 15 minutes against the Nets, and did not grab a single rebound. He had nine points in the fourth against Toronto.
"He had a terrible outing in New Jersey," Sloan said. "But when he has open shots he can make them. This year, he can get open. Last year, he couldn't get open because he wasn't in good enough shape."
Okur said he had bad luck against New Jersey.
"You got to let it go," Okur said. "Just go out there with a lot of energy and hit some shots. My teammates created wide open shots for me. I was feeling good."
Chris Bosh had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Raptors, 0-5 for the first time in their 11-year history. The fans booed the Raptors off the court after the game.
Attendance was just 15,617.
"We just hope that the fans understand our plan, which is building for the future," general manager Rob Babcock said.
Toronto coach Sam Mitchell threatened to bench players after their previous loss, and he did. Centers Loren Woods and Rafael Araujo, who both averaging a point a game, didn't play. Mitchell started Aaron Williams instead, but he didn't fare much better. Williams got into foul trouble early and finished with two points and three rebounds in 10 minutes.
"Teams are wanting the ball more than us right now," said Bosh, whose team was outrebounded for the fourth time in five games.
On Sunday, the Raptors host the Seattle SuperSonics, who dropped to 1-5 after a 41-point loss to Washington on Friday night.
"Everybody is a threat when you are 0-5," Rose said.
Owens scored nine points in the second quarter to help Utah open up a 12-point lead. His 15 points were a career high.
The Raptors repeatedly cut their deficit to eight or nine in the second half, but Okur kept putting the Jazz out of reach with outside jumpers.
His 3-pointer and two free throws gave Utah a 97-84 lead with less than a minute left.
"He had a monster game," Rose said.
