A construction accident in Grantsville sent two men to the hospital in critical condition Friday.

The men were part of a construction crew working on a new subdivision on the south end of town, said Grantsville police officer Darrin Yates.

While a crew worked to erect a framed wall for a house near Alexander Court and Donner Place, the base of the wall gave way, toppling the wall on top of the men.

Other workers were able to get out of the way, but two of them, a 32-year-old and a 23-year-old, were trapped underneath it, Yates said.

The other workers were able to get the wall off of the two men, who complained of chest pain, Yates said. Both were airlifted to University Hospital, where they are expected to recover, he said.
