SOUTH JORDAN — A man died after he exited a moving vehicle Friday.
The man, 21, was a passenger in a quad-cab pickup traveling south on 1300 West at 6:20 p.m., when he apparently opened the door and exited the vehicle near 10900 South, said South Jordan Deputy Fire Chief Chris Evans. He said the man received extensive head injuries and injuries to his arms and legs.
When medical personnel arrived, the man was not breathing but had a heart beat; he was taken to Jordan Valley Hospital and was later pronounced dead, Evans said.
The truck was traveling at the posted speed limit, which is 35 mph, when the man's body hit the road, Evans said. The driver and another passenger were not aware of his actions and were in shock, he said.
The accident remains under investigation.
