A new film about the life and legacy of Joseph Smith will be shown in the Legacy Theater of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building beginning Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005.
"Joseph Smith The Prophet of the Restoration" has been produced under the direction of the First Presidency as part of the Church's yearlong commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Joseph Smith's birth.
The film depicts events in the life of Joseph Smith, from his boyhood in Vermont to his martyrdom in Illinois at age 38.
Admission to the movie is free, but advance reservations will be required. Reservations can be made beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005. Online reservations will be accepted at www.lds.org/events. Telephone reservation requests will be taken at 1- 866-LDS-TIKS (1-866-537-8457 toll-free in the U.S.) or at 570-0080 (local calls in the greater Salt Lake City area).
Reservation requests will be accepted only online or by telephone. No in-person reservations will be made. Those interested in making reservations should not come to the Conference Center ticket office.
A limit of 10 reservations per person will apply to all requests, and no large group reservations will be taken. There will be no standby line for showings of this film. The movie will be shown every 90 minutes, Monday through Saturday, at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m.and 9 p.m. On Mondays, the last showing will begin at 3 p.m. Initially, reservations will be made only for showings from Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, through Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006. Reservations for showings in February 2006 and beyond will be made available at a later date. On Friday, Dec. 23, and Saturday, Dec. 24, the last showings will begin at 3 p.m.
On Dec. 24, "Joseph Smith The Prophet of the Restoration" will be introduced at most Church visitors centers at temples and historic sites.
