Steven B. Bateman has been named chief executive officer of St. Mark's Hospital, replacing John Hanshaw. Hanshaw was recently named president of the HCA Mountain Division.

Bateman is the current CEO of Ogden Regional Medical Center and Brigham City Community Hospital. He has nearly 19 years of service with HCA, which owns a number of hospitals in Utah and nationwide. He has served as CEO of Pioneer Valley Hospital in West Valley City and of West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho. He began his administrative career in 1982 as an assistant administrator at Ogden Regional when it was known as St. Benedict's Hospital.

He has a master's degree from Utah State University and a bachelor's from Weber State. He also has won a number of awards, including the Distinguished Healthcare Executive Award from the Utah Hospital Association. He is a past chairman of the board of trustees of the Utah Hospital and Health Systems Association. HCA recently announced it was restructuring to create a Mountain Division, which includes St. Mark's Hospital, Ogden Regional Medical Center, Brigham City Community Hospital, Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Orem, Mountain View Hospital in Payson, a new hospital opening in Draper in 2007, and two Idaho hospitals, the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls and West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell.
