LOGAN—Former Utah State standout Cardell Butler scored a game-high 24 points, including 20 in the second-half, to lead EA Sports to a 67-60 exhibition win against Utah State in Logan on Saturday night.

Chaz Spicer led Utah State with 17 points, while Cass Matheus had 11. Nate Harris added 10 points and a team-high six rebounds for the Aggies.

Spicer and Durrall Peterson each had six first-half points as Utah State took a 26-23 lead into the locker room as the Aggies shot 40.7 percent in the opening period as compared to a 47.6 percent shooting percentage for EA Sports.

EA Sports closed to within one point at 33-32 early in the second-half, before Utah State scored six straight points to open its biggest lead of the game at 39-32. However, EA Sports fought back and took the lead for good on a 10-0 run that turned a 48-47 deficit into a 57-48 lead with 2:38 remaining. USU got within five points with just over a minute remaining, but EA Sports scored six straight points to secure the win.

Next up for Utah State will be its season opener on Saturday at Oral Roberts.

WEBER STATE 62, ADAMS STATE 61: At Ogden, the Wildcats held off a late charge by Adams State to go undefeated in the exhibition season with a 62-61 win on Saturday night at the Dee Events Center.

Nick Covington led the Wildcats with 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor (3-of-4 from 3-point range) and 5-of-6 shooting from the line. The junior guard also chipped in with four rebounds and three assists.

David Patten hit 6 of 8 shots for 14 points, while Coric Riggs added eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

UVSC 85, MESA STATE 69: At Orem, Utah Valley State picked up its second exhibition win, Saturday beating Mesa State 85-69. Freshman Robyn Fairbanks led five players in double figures by scoring 17 points and grabbing a game-high 16 rebounds in only 22 minutes of play.

Veva Whitear added 15 points and five rebounds while Rebekah Fales had 14, Miriam Palkki 12 and Hollie Beaman 11.

The Wolverines led 30-27 at halftime and outscored Mesa State by 13 points in the second half. Utah Valley was impressive on the boards, as they out rebounded Mesa 59-39. As a team the Wolverines shot 44 percent from the field and held Mesa State to 32 percent shooting.
