Dorsel Dean Anderson 3/28/23 ~ 11/9/05 Dorsel D. Anderson, 82, of San Lorenzo CA., passed away at home from complications of cancer. He was born in Salem, ID. to Oscar Anderson and Melinda Bell. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. He attended Utah State and the University of Utah, earning a degree in accounting. In 1952 he married Norma Hart of Bloomington, Idaho, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He worked for NASA and the U.S. Navy as a contracting officer for 27 years, retiring in 1987. In 1969 he moved his family from Salt Lake City to San Lorenzo. Dorsel was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions, including three missions. He and Norma have served for the past 13 years as workers in the Oakland LDS Temple. Dorsel enjoyed golf, genealogy, helping others, reading and traveling. Survivors include his loving wife Norma, his children Dean (Pam) Anderson of Kanab, UT; Bart (Jane) Anderson of Newark, CA; Ryan (Janet) Anderson of Madera, CA; Cheryl (Robert) Broad of Palmdale, CA; and Janae (Nathan) Harwood of Livermore, CA; siblings Elaine (Ray) Haroldson of Idaho Falls, ID; and Doyle (Sophia) Anderson of Salt Lake City, UT; 18 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by siblings Phyllis, Don and Dell Anderson, son Layne Anderson and two grandsons. Friends and family are invited to a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Nov. 12, 2005, at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, 859 Grant Ave., San Lorenzo. Those wishing to express condolences to the family may do so before the funeral from 10 - 11 a.m. at the same location.
