WEST POINT — A 48-year-old man fell off a ladder while hanging Christmas lights at his home Saturday and later died from the injuries.
The man's name was not released Sunday pending notification of family members.
Davis County Sheriff's Sgt. Scott Harper said the accident took place about 4:21 p.m. in the 400 block of 3275 West in West Point. The man was standing on the top rung of the ladder, with one of his feet on the home's roof, when he fell over backwards. Harper said the man fell about 18 to 20 feet and landed on his front-porch steps.
Paramedics arrived within two minutes of receiving the emergency call and found the man in cardiac arrest, Harper said. They revived the man and he was life-flighted to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, where he died about 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Harper said anyone using a ladder should heed warnings not to step on the top rungs.
