The Family Investment Coalition will hold a debate on taxes Wednesday in the auditorium of the Salt Lake City Main Library, 210 E. 400 South.
The debate, to include policy makers, business leaders and economists, will cover the role of tax in society, the relationship between taxes and economic growth, and how to balance taxes and benefits. The experts will try to find a "wise" tax policy for the state — one that would equally share the burden while continuing to provide needed services.
Debaters also will discuss recent federal spending, such as $200 billion for Hurricane Katrina relief, and new proposals such as one to repeal the estate tax.
