Brooks S. Petersen 1975 ~ 2005 Brooks Shigeki Petersen returned to his heavenly home Nov. 11, 2005. He was born on April 14, 1975, in Brigham City, Utah, to Jim and Jan Petersen. He was a quiet, loving, active child. He loved sports from his early years and played Little League football and baseball and excelled in the Intramural Pentathlons, and later developed a passion for golf. He graduated from Bear River High School in 1993. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Canada Montreal French speaking mission. After his return, he attended Snow College and SUU. He was married for a short time to Amy Richards from Cedar City, and they were blessed with a son, Carsen Jack on Feb. 21, 2002. He finally found the occupation of his dreams -firefighting. He attended the fire academy, graduated and worked for the Layton and Kaysville fire departments, and was soon thereafter employed by West Valley and South Salt Lake City departments. He also became a certified paramedic and was promoted to the WVC Haz-Mat Team. He LOVED and LIVED his work and was good at it. It was through their complimentary occupations that he met the "Almighty" Jenney Tenney from South Jordan. They were married Sept. 8, 2004 and made their home in Clearfield. Brooks and Jenney were blessed with a son, Ryker Shigeki, June 4, 2005. Brooks is survived by his wife, Jenney, and son, Ryker Petersen; son, Carsen Jack Petersen; parents, grandparents, Shigeki and Mary Moriyama; sister, Cori Dawn Petersen; brother, Shannon James (Alese) Petersen; brother, Trevor Blake (Jenifer) Petersen. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, 11:00 am at the Hunter South Stake Center, 4700 So. 5180 W. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday 6 - 8 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy (10600 So.) and Thursday from 9:30 - 10:30 am at the church. Interment will follow at the Elwood Town Cemetery at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to the Brooks, Carson, & Ryker Petersen Trust Fund at any Chase Bank to assist with expenses.
