Daniel Arthur Murphy 7/16/41 ~ 11/10/05 Daniel Arthur Murphy (Dan), a native of San Diego, was born July 16, 1941. He was a resident of Salt Lake City for 26 years. He died from cancer at the age of 64, at his sister's residence in the San Diego area. His cIass was the first four year graduates at EI Cajon Valley High School in 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp right out of high school. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton. In his 14 years of duty in the Marine Corps, he did three tours in Vietnam. He received many medals while serving his country: Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Medal and Cross of Gallantry w/PaIm & Frame, to name a few. He worked as a Library Specialist at the Salt Lake City V.A. Hospital for 20 years. His favorite things to do were fixing up old trucks, hunting, going to the rifle range, and hanging around the house with his St. Bernard, Clancy. He is survived by his mother, Beverly Murphy, his sisters, Barbara Hinojos of ChuIa Vista and Katherine Murphy of Oceanside, six step-children, Randy Jay Mitchell, John Byron Mitchell, Shelly Mitchell Siciliano, Sherlly Mitchell Tosh, Wendy Sue Mitchell Marx, Kelly Lynn Mitchell and eight nephews. He is now reunited with his recently deceased beloved wife, Cheryl and his brother, Terry Murphy. Visitation will take place at Community Mortuary, 855 Broadway, Chula Vista on Thursday, November 17, 2005 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 pm. Services will be at 7:00 p.m. On Friday, November 18, 2005 graveside service and burial at Riverside National Cemetery at 10:00 a.m.
