Delbert Kent Pedersen, Sr 1918 ~ 2005 Delbert Kent Pedersen, Sr. Passed away Sunday, November 13, 2005. He was born December 2, 1918, the fourth of seven children in Spring City, Utah, to Jens Christian and Martha Olufine Gabrielsen Pedersen. He was raised and attended schools there. During the Depression he joined the CC Corps and worked in Zion's National park where he met his future wife while she worked in Springdale, Utah, in her family's caf County and trained at Ft. Lewis, WA, where he married Laura Ashworth on March 3 1943 in Tacoma, WA; she preceded him in death December 10, 2004. He was sent to England to prepare for the invasion of Europe, including the concentration camp at Buchenwald. He also served in the Battle of the Bulge. After returning home, he received training in laying floor covering back east and became an expert floor covering mechanic. He worked for I & M Floors for many years and was often requested to lay floor covering of all kinds throughout the west. He was a man of simple pleasures who helped keep a beautiful home and lovely landscape, along with his wife, wherever they lived. He worked a second job for many years at Western Garden Center in the pet department, where he enjoyed sharing his hobby of tropical fish with others. He had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed the weekly Lawrence Welk program, The Tabernacle Choir and the Spoken Word and other good music programs. One of his greatest delights was listening to and watching the Utah Jazz and they have lost one of their most devoted fans. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and together they visited every state, many countries and every continent, except Antarctica. They spent their midlife and early retirement years enjoying a yearly trip. He is survived by his son, D. Kent Pedersen, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Laurel Lee D.; grandson, Erik Kent Pedersen (Becky); granddaughter, Heidi Pedersen Frisk (John); three great-grandsons: Hayden, Mason and Elijah; sisters: Mildred Nielsen, Ephraim, UT; Judith Downard, Spring City, UT; Eva Poulsen, Ely, NV. Special thanks to St. Mark's Hospital, Senior Health Care, Applegate Homecare Services and Highland Care Center for the kind and special care given to Delbert off and on during this last year. His family is so grateful to you all. Funeral services will be Friday, November 18, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where a viewing will be held Friday, 9:30-10:45 am prior to service. Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive.
