Harriett McGregor Williams 1912 ~ 2005 OREM, UTAH - Harriett McGregor Williams, 93, returned to her Heavenly Father and beloved husband, John, on November 15, 2005, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Deanne Williams. Harriett was born September 22, 1912, in Mound Valley, Idaho to James D. and Ruth Curtis McGregor. As a youth, Harriett was involved in the 4-H Club and won trips to Chicago and Portland where she was recognized for her excellent skills in cooking and sewing. She graduated from Thatcher High School, and assisted her mother in the home with the younger children until marrying her sweetheart, John Thomas Williams, Jr., in the LDS Salt Lake Temple on August 15, 1933. John and Harriett traveled to the World's Fair in Chicago for their honeymoon. Upon their return, they resided in Mound Valley where they worked their ranch and raised their three sons until Harriett's beloved John was killed in a tragic hunting accident on October 25, 1942. At the invitation of her sister and brother-in-law, Harriett moved to San Diego, CA in October of 1944 where she resided for 56 years. She attended cosmetology school and later owned the Poudre Puff Beauty Shop in La Jolla for 30 years. She was married to Ray Sewell until his death, then to Dr. Ralph King who also preceded her in death. Harriett was active in the LDS Church and served in many positions, but her favorite activity was teaching children. She loved all children, especially her grandchildren and sent each one a personal birthday card until she was 90. She loved music and dancing and was blessed with a nice singing voice. After retirement she found great joy in serving in the Los Angeles and San Diego Temples. For the past six years Harriett resided at the Legacy Retirement Center in South Jordan where she continued to be independent and enjoyed the association of many new friends and a caring staff. Harriett was the fourth of 10 children and is survived by two siblings, Wells P. McGregor, Bend, OR; and Barbara Hales, Logan, UT; three sons, Blaine D. (Peggy) Williams, Bountiful, UT; Wayne G. (Sylvia) Williams, Draper, UT; John Kent (Deanne) Williams, Orem, UT; 16 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Harriett was preceded in death by three brothers, Reed, Youngs, and Glenn; four sisters, Dora, Blanche, Merna, and Margaret; grandson Chad, and granddaughters-in-law Melissa and Rochelle Williams. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her for her quick smile, kindness, thoughtfulness, and great love of family and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2005 at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E., where friends may call 8:45 - 9:45 a.m. Interment will be in Grace, Idaho that afternoon.
