An Ogden man who was arrested Tuesday for a bomb threat he allegedly made more than a month ago at Hill Air Force Base pleaded not guilty to the charge Wednesday.
On Oct. 4, Brent Paul Burrows, 54, allegedly left a voice message at a Hill building stating "The bomb is about to burst," according to a statement from the Salt Lake field office of the FBI.
The message was received the following morning and reported to the Air Force Office of Special Investigation. The building was evacuated and swept by bomb dogs, but they were unable to locate any explosives.
Burrows was indicted last week with one count of maliciously conveying false information, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, where he awaits a detention hearing Friday, in which the U.S. government usually tries to show cause for keeping an indicted person locked up until a trial starts. U.S. Magistrate Judge Samuel Alba will decide whether Burrows gets to go home in the interim.
Burrows' trial is scheduled for Jan. 18 in front of U.S. District Court Judge Tena Campbell.
