The Great Salt Lake Audubon Society is sponsoring a series of bird-watching field trips for November and December. Beginning bird-watchers are welcome.

The dates and places to meet are:

Nov. 30, Farmington Bay and nearby area. Meet at McDonald's just north of the Centerville exit off I-15 at 9 a.m. Call Deedee O'Brien at 272-8060 if you plan to attend.

Dec. 3, Decker Lake and Lee Kay ponds. Meet at the southeast corner of the Shopko parking lot in Sugarhouse at 8:30 a.m. Call Kathy Coleman at 944-5773 if you plan to attend.

Dec. 7, Mountain Dell Recreation Area, Parley's Canyon. Meet at 9 a.m. at the southeast corner of the Shopko Parking lot in Sugarhouse. Call Jack Clark at 255-7989 or Sylvia Gray 532-3486 if you plan to attend.

Dec. 14, Hotspots and Bear River Bird Refuge. Meet at 8 a.m. in the southeast corner of the Shopko parking lot in Sugarhouse for an all-day trip of watching Tundra Swans. Call Sylvia Gray at 532-3486 if you plan to attend.

Dec. 17, Salt Lake City Christmas bird count. The group will meet for breakfast before being given an area packet and being assigned to a bird counting team. Contact Steve Carr at 277-7711 for more information.

Dec. 28, Farmington Bay. Meet at McDonald's just north of the Centerville exit off I-15 at 9 a.m. Call Deedee O'Brien at 272-8060 if you plan to attend.

The group encourages $3 contributions per person for trips under 40 miles and $5 per person for longer trips.
