Last Saturday evening I attended Davis High School's production of "Les Miserables." What I experienced was not something I would have expected from high school students. My connection with musical theater is significant, so it was not the casual observations of an audience member. The production from start to finish was remarkable. The quality of the voices, costuming, direction, etc., was exceptional.
My purpose in writing this is motivated by my faith in the quality and potential of our young people today. We are bombarded with so much negativism concerning their behavior, their attitudes, their work ethic and so on, but I think what I watched on that stage represents the majority of our young people today. As much as I love sports, I hope I live to see the day when the "other talents" get the attention they deserve.
