Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. released a Thanksgiving message Wednesday.
"I want to take a moment to wish the citizens of Utah a Happy Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for this year where we have experienced success and overcome grief. We have had so many families in need during the past year, from the floods of southern Utah to the evacuees from Hurricane Katrina.
"We have pulled together as a state, helping those around us and those who were far away. Utah's support of friends and neighbors has been extraordinary, showing the true nature of our citizens.
"We are mindful as well of those men and women representing our state and nation who serve us so ably overseas. Many are in the line of danger as they protect and preserve our country's interests and we are most grateful.
"We have seen a turn in the economy, the decline in unemployment and rise in population. We have benefited from a joining of communities and cultures.
"As a state, we have lived up to the living legacy of our ancestors and honor them at this time of thanks as well.
"Mary Kaye and I are grateful for our state's successes this past year and look forward to our continued peace and prosperity. Happy Thanksgiving."
