Assistant Superintendent Darryl Kilbert leads students to the cafeteria at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in New Orleans on Monday, for the first day of school. The elementary school was the first public school to open since Hurricane Katrina. Before the storm, Franklin was a magnet school with selective enrollment. But now the school is open to anyone who wants to attend.
