Colonel Peter Martin Anderson Moyes 1916 ~ 2005 Colonel Peter Martin Anderson Moyes, age 89, passed away October 31, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah of natural causes. He was born October 7, 1916 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Andrew Moyes and Margaret Brown Anderson. He was a graduate of South High School and attended the University of Utah. He served an LDS mission to Great Britain amongst his Scottish ancestors and sang with the millennial choir. Returning home he married Alice Henrietta Shafter on September 16, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. They were married for the past 67 years. Peter loved to tell jokes and stories. He loved nature, the outdoors and fishing with his sons and grandsons. A decorated veteran of World War II he served in active duty and then in the National Guard until his retirement in 1976. He was a licensed architect in several states and loved his profession. He loved travel and visited most corners of the globe, but was most proud of his Scottish heritage. He was active in numerous church callings throughout the years and longed to be of service. His thrift and wise financial planning provided for many adventures for himself, Alice and their children in their later years. Survived by his wife Alice, his children Judy (Stephen) Ireland, Duncan (Linda) Moyes, John (Marilyn) Moyes, Madalyn Kae (Daniel) Littler, Peter (Rebecca) Moyes and Matthew (Meredith) Moyes, and many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 5th at 12 noon at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 5th from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Entombment will be held at the Wasatch Lawn immediately following services.
