Utah Valley Preps of the Week

Jason Golightly

Orem Tigers

Class: Senior

Sport: Football

Position: Quarterback

The numbers: The Tigers' senior quarterback has emerged as one of the top signal callers in the valley. He's a threat to run, and his passing has improved with each game. He was key in the Tigers' upset playoff win at Bountiful by throwing for three touchdowns and running for another. Two of his scoring tosses came in the final six minutes and helped the Tigers overcome a 10-point deficit. For the game, he rushed 17 times for 107 yards, with a 64-yard scoring scamper. He also completed 10-of-17 passes for 109 yards. Golightly is a two-sport star, also playing baseball for the Tigers.

Lori Wilson

Provo Bulldogs

Class: Junior

Sport: Volleyball

Position: Outside hitter

The numbers: Wilson has led the Bulldogs to the top spot in Region 7 once again this season. She has a great jump serve that throws scares into opponents, and her powerful kills nearly always find their mark. She hopes to take her team past fourth place this year and into the top spot in the state tournament. "Lori is a great athlete, and we count on her to come through for us," said Provo coach Wendy Bills. In addition to her tough serving and hitting, Wilson also comes through in the clutch as one of the Bulldogs' top passers.
