A convicted sex offender was arrested over the weekend on charges of offering money to fondle young boys.
The 42-year-old was charged in 3rd District Court on Tuesday with four counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, all first-degree felonies, and one count for failure to register as a sex offender.
According to court documents, the man met a 10-year-old boy at the City Library about three months ago. Since then, the two have met on separate occasions at the Gateway and at a local park where the man allegedly touched the boy under his clothing. He then gave the boy $2, as stated in court documents.
On Friday, the man approached the boy and his 8-year-old friend and allegedly fondled them under their Halloween costumes, court documents state.
The man pleaded guilty in 1997 to the same charges in 4th District Court in Utah County. He has not since registered his new address, as required by state law. He is being held in the Salt Lake County Jail on $250,000 bail.
