Bird flu is nothing new

Forgive me for being suspicious, but it appears the news media have created their own disease. Avian flu has been around for millennia or more. The virus is like the thousands of other virus particles that afflict a specific organism, replicate and then search for another host. It does what countless virus particles do in all of living organisms. Why are we not worried about parvovirus jumping from dogs to humans? Because the likelihood of that is so remote. So why is the avian flu of such intense interest at the moment? Any virus could potentially mutate to attack a human host, but most never do and never will. My suspicion is the media want to rile up the public and the government is buying into the scam.
