Lawrence J. Leigh has joined the law firm of Parsons Behle & Latimer. He will concentrate his practice on criminal litigation with emphasis on investment, business and corporate cases. Leigh previously served as an assistant U.S. attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice in San Francisco, where he was assistant organized crime strike force chief. He is a graduate of the University of California Hastings College of Law, the University of Arizona and the University of Utah.
Jodi Holmgren, principal and marketing strategist of Design Solutions Integrated Marketing, was recently appointed to the Eagle Gate College Graphic Design Advisory Board. Holmgren has more than 25 years of experience in marketing and advertising.
Centennial Bank announced it has joined with Continental Home Mortgage to create a mortgage center in Springville. Loan officers Laurie Christiansen and Kristy Oakey will lead the conversion. Christiansen has more than 20 years of experience in the mortgage industry. Her main focus will be long-term loans. Oakey has more than four years of mortgage experience and five years of experience as a business manager.
Prudential Utah Real Estate has hired Linda English, Jamison Frost and Kollette Chambers as real estate agents in its Heber office. English recently moved her real estate business from the Salt Lake area to Heber City. She specializes in home design and renovation. Frost's experience centers around new development and construction, while Chambers worked in marketing and design for more than 10 years before pursuing a career in real estate.
Tracy Brown was hired as media director at The Orton Group, a Salt Lake-based advertising, public relations and interactive agency. Brown has 15 years of experience in the Intermountain media market, including media buying and marketing.
Zions Bank has hired Carol Walker as public relations officer for the Women's Financial Group and Business Resource Center. Prior to joining Zions Bank, Walker was executive director for the Utah Commission for Women and Families. She also has experience in corporate public relations and event direction.
Brandon Briggs was promoted to chief estimator at Big-D Construction. Briggs most recently served as senior estimator. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University. Additionally, Big-D announced that Ben Williams joined the company as an estimator based at the company's Lindon office. He has seven years of construction experience and is a graduate of BYU. Ben May joined the company's Lindon office as project manager. May has five years of experience in the construction industry and is a BYU graduate.
National City Mortgage, a division of National City Bank of Indiana, announced two new hires. Matthew Smock was named Utah district manager. Smock has more than 10 years of mortgage banking experience. Jon Holbrook was named Utah district sales manager. Holbrook has worked in the mortgage banking and financial consulting industry for more than six years. He is a graduate of Salt Lake Community College.
The Utah Governor's Office of Economic Development announced two new appointments. Brett Heimburger was appointed regional director for Asia in the office's International Trade and Diplomacy division. Heimburger previously served as senior manager for corporate development at a computer software company. He is a graduate of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and BYU. Ned Weinshenker was named director of the office's Life Sciences Cluster. Weinshenker is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University and served as assistant professor at the University of Maryland and visiting scholar and lecturer at Stanford University. He also has corporate experience, including research and development and venture capital.
Westminster College has named James R. Clark as interim dean of the Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business. He replaces Aric Krause, who returned to the faculty. Clark has an extensive background in business, management and consulting. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School. He will join the college as assistant professor of management and interim dean through the 2006-07 academic years.
Jeff Payne was appointed to the regional sales team at Vantage Controls, an Orem-based manufacturer of automated control and dimming systems. Payne has more than five years of experience in sales for the residential and commercial markets. At Vantage, he will serve the company's Midwest territory.
The Utah Blaze, an indoor football team, has hired Thomas Goodhines as director of communications and media relations. Goodhines will handle all communications efforts including media relations, publicity, community relations and team charities. He comes to the Blaze after working for the last five seasons as director of media services for the Arena Football League Office in New York City.
Andy Wheeler has joined NAI Utah Commercial Real Estate. Prior to joining NAI, Wheeler was an office and industrial specialist with NAI's Pyramid Brokerage Co. in New York.
Questar Corp. announced several officer appointments in its Market Resources subsidiary. J. Paul Matheny, previously manager of QMR's Rockies region, was promoted to vice president of the Rockies region. Perry Richards, previously general manager of Questar Gas Management, was promoted to vice president of QGM. Jim Torgerson, previously general manager of Rockies region drilling and completions, was promoted to vice president of Rockies region drilling and completions. B. Kurtis Watts, previously general manager of accounting for QMR, was promoted to vice president and controller. Matheny and Richards are based out of QMR's Denver office. Torgerson and Watts work out of the company's Salt Lake headquarters.
