The Weber State women's soccer team will be in the NCAA 64-team tournament after winning the Big Sky tourney Saturday. The BYU and Utah teams are waiting to see if they qualify.
With a 4-1 win over No. 3 seed Northern Arizona, No. 1 seed Weber State clinched its second straight Big Sky tournament title Saturday at the Lew Joseph Memorial Soccer Field in Ogden. Senior Rochelle Hoover scored three goals over the tournament and was named Most Valuable Player.
In Las Vegas, UNLV's Katie Carney scored in the 96th minute of the game to give the Rebels a 1-0 overtime win over New Mexico in the Mountain West Conference Soccer Tournament Championship. The win gives UNLV its first MWC Soccer Tournament Championship in school history and its first automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
BYU, the MWC No. 3 seed with an overall record of 15-2-3 was upset in MWC quarterfinals. No. 1 MWC seed Utah, with a conference record of 6-0-1 lost in the semifinals to New Mexico.
The selection for the 2005 NCAA College Cup will be announced at 1 p.m. Monday.
