Quarterback Brian Johnson directed an attack that racked up 563 yards, 25 first downs and no turnovers. The Utes managed 179 yards rushing with rushing leader Quinton Ganther sidelined with a sore knee. Wide receiver John Madsen had a career-high 12 catches.

Wyoming's high-powered offense with receiving star Jovon Bouknight (four catches, 43 yards) never got on track. The Cowboys turned the ball over three times — Spencer Toone and Martail Burnett recovered fumbles, while Casey Evans intercepted a pass.

Kicker Dan Beardall extended his streak of consecutive field goals made to a school-record 11 with three made. He did, however, miss a PAT after 28 straight successes. A 45-yard kickoff return by Bouknight was countered by a 44-yarder from Marquis Wilson.

Overall

Faced with a must-win situation, the Utes shined. They excelled in all three facets of the game in overpowering the Cowboys. At 5-4 overall, Utah kept its bowl hopes alive entering season-ending contests against New Mexico and the Team Down South.
