Melva J. Openshaw 1916 ~ 2005 Melva Jarrett Openshaw, 89, passed away peacefully November 4, 2005 in Orem. She was born April 16, 1916 in Nephi, Utah to Ronald and Ellen Olpin Jarrett. She married Bernell Openshaw August 1, 1936 in Provo, Utah; they were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple. He died August 28, 1960. Melva loved doing yard work, quilting, traveling, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, temple work, and being with her family. She has served in numerous callings in the LDS Church and was a retired nurse of 19 years. She is survived by her children, LaMar and Connie Openshaw, Sharon Openshaw Simmons, Roger and Judy Openshaw, and Janet Openshaw Harris; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, William Jarrett, Dee Jarrett, Thayne Jarrett, Elda Martell, Elmo Jarrett, Robert Jarrett, and Carl Jarrett. She was preceded in death by her husband; and brothers, Maurice and Kent Jarrett. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 8th at 11 a.m. in the Holladay-Brown Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin, where friends may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment, Santaquin Cemetery.
