DELAWARE CITY, Del. (AP) — Two workers died Sunday while working on a unit at the Valero Energy Corp. oil refinery, officials said.

The men appear to have succumbed to nitrogen fumes inside a silo just after midnight, said state police Cpl. Jeff Oldham.

"A witness said that when he saw them up there it looked like they were trying to retrieve something from inside the silo," Oldham said.

When the witness left and came back about five minutes later, he saw the men were unconscious, Oldham said.
