An man is behind bars after police say he lost control of the car he was driving and rammed into a house Saturday evening.

Police say the man, 18, was traveling north on 4400 West near 3820 South just after 9 p.m. when he lost control and struck a home in that area. West Valley Police Lt. Bill Froehlich said the man then tried to flee the scene by backing out, striking an oncoming van. The home's owners struggled with the man until police arrived.

Officers had to use a Taser device on the man to get him into custody, Froehlich said. The man was booked into jail on suspicion of resisting arrest, assault and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
