Betty Jean Pulham Isaacson 1928 ~ 2005 Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister returned to her Heavenly Father November 6, 2005, with her family by her side. She fought a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Born April 29, 1928 to Archibald and Essie Pulham in Costa Mesa, California. She was the sixth of seven children. Her childhood was spent in Glendale, CA. Her family moved to Orem when she was a young teenager, but she never outgrew her love of the ocean. Betty graduated from Lincoln High School. She married her high-school sweetheart, Leon Isaacson, May 24, 1946 in Orem. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage. Betty loved being with her husband, surrounded by their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family camp-outs, parties and get-togethers were a treasured part of her life. She leaves a legacy of traditions, all centered around the family. She enjoyed spending the winter months in St. George with her husband and made many long-lasting friendships with other "snowbirds". Betty had a special love of San Diego, where she and Leon spent many memorable vacations, where she loved walking on the beach, listening to the surf, and gathering seashells. She was a talented artist who enjoyed oil painting, watercolors, china painting, and making porcelain dolls. She enjoyed sharing her talent with others as a teacher. She taught porcelain dolls, sewing lessons and many other hobbies to those around her.. She made many crocheted tablecloths, wedding dresses, quilts and blessing gowns, and entered them in the State Fair, where she won many blue ribbons and sweepstake awards. Many enjoyable hours where also spent quilting with her friends in St. George. Betty was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities. Some of her callings included assignments in the Relief Society, Mutual (Young Women's), Cub Scouts, and Ward Girls Camp Director. Though she faced many trials during the last years of her life, her testimony never wavered. She faced her challenges with a prayer in her heart and a smile on her face. She is survived by her devoted husband, Leon Isaacson, four children, Mel (Sherrie) Isaacson of West Jordan, Dr. Ed (Marcia) Isaacson of Alpine, Patty (Rick) Robinson of West Jordan, and Judy (Dale) Ainge of Orem; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren with two additional great-grandchildren on the way; two brothers, Ken (Dona) Pulham and Reese (Marilyn) Pulham, both from Orem; brother-in-law Merlin (Carol) Isaacson; sisters-in-law Carole (Blaine) Cordner and Arlene (LeRoy) Watkins.
