Lewis Macfarlane 1918 ~ 2005 LAYTON - Lewis Macfarlane, devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all, was called home to his Heavenly Father Thursday, November 3, 2005. Lewis was born June 14, 1918 (Flag Day) in Cedar City, Utah to "Ras" and Lillian Higbee Macfarlane. He was the third of six children, Dean Macfarlane (Bountiful), Eva Mertlich (Oregon), twins, Clark Marcfarlane (Clearfield) and Clair Macfarlane (Deceased), and Mary MacDonald (Cedar City). He met and later married his devoted sweetheart, Reva Frazer, August 1, 1938. They were later sealed for time and eternity August 25, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple. A daughter, Sandra, was born to them October 17, 1941; and son, Sherm, April 1, 1952. Lewis joined the United States Navy with the out-break of World War II and was assigned to the South Pacific and stationed in Hawaii. Upon his discharge from the Navy the family moved to Salt Lake City. He worked at the Naval Supply Depot. They moved to Layton in 1948. He was transferred to Hill AFB and worked as an equipment allowance specialist. He retired with 35 years of service. Lewis loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and had a wonderful personal testimony of his Savior. His church callings included Bishop, High Priest Group Leader, stake missionary, and temple worker to name a few. He was always a spiritual man who taught his children to pray, have faith, and above all, love their Heavenly Father. He served as Kiwanis president for two years. He loved to tell jokes and have fun. He loved singing and performing with the Beehive Statesman, and was awarded "Barbershopper of the Year" in 1998 for his work in developing quartet singing in area high schools. He loved hunting and fishing in the great outdoors and had a great respect for all God's creatures. He had a great love for children and horses and had a gentleness that allowed him to ride the "Tuffest" and tame the "Wildest."
