CareSource, a Salt Lake home health-care and hospice provider, announced Monday that it will break ground on a new boutique health-care facility early next month.

When complete, the Lodge of CareSource, 1548 E. 4500 South, will "be unlike any other medical facility in the state," according to CareSource chief clinical officer Gina Coccimiglio, because "it was designed to be more like a home than a medical institution."

Each room at the 10-bed facility will be private, with private showers and bathrooms. Amenities will include a kitchenette, satellite television, DVD and VCR players and guest beds for visitors. Additionally, CareSource said each room will have a private patio.

"When you step in the front door, you'll think you're at a resort instead of a clinical institution," Coccimiglio said in a statement. "Yet it will have an experienced team of health-care professionals providing nursing and therapy services."

Coccimiglio said the lodge was designed for clients who would normally qualify for a skilled nursing facility but who might now choose assisted living centers because they are discomfited by the institutional nature of some skilled nursing homes.
