I was a paratrooper stationed at Fort Benning, Ga., in 1951. My grandfather was dying, so I went to the American Red Cross and asked for help to get home. They gave me $50 and had me sign a waiver so they could take it out of my next month's pay. The American Red Cross has taken in more than $1 billion so far. We deserve to have an independent audit. Please tell us where the money is really going. Let's make sure it goes where it's supposed to go, without a lot of strings attached.
