The Founding Fathers were not egotistical enough to think the Constitution was perfect or that the country was going to be locked in amber from their time onward. They were wise enough to create a Constitution able to stand up to challenges that have destroyed other nations and constitutions.

Knowing that times and peoples change, they built into the Constitution a means to make adjustments. That process is not judicial fiat but the amendment process.
