McMINNVILLE, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon man who stole bras and panties from college students was sentenced Monday to more than four years in prison and another 18 months in a county jail.

Sung Koo Kim, 31, who was a suspect in the disappearance of a Brigham Young University coed, has been behind bars since June 2004.

He will get credit for the time he has already served. While in the Yamhill County Jail in Oregon, Kim, who was cleared in the Brooke Wilberger probe after police arrested and charged Joel Patrick Courtney in August, can petition to spend the rest of his term in a treatment program.

"I would like to sincerely apologize with all my heart to all the girls affected by my shortsighted, selfish, abnormal actions," he said before Judge John Collins.

"It was never my intention to scare or instill a sense of insecurity in them. I want to reassure them that I pose absolutely no threat or danger to them or the community."

Kim reached a plea deal last week, admitting charges of burglary and theft. He told the court that his problems stemmed from his upbringing in a strict, religious household.

"I lived all my life in isolation, in a lonely religious prison, deprived of friends, love, intimacy and happiness."

Kim still faces criminal charges in three other Oregon counties. He has been accused of stealing thousands of bras and panties from college campuses in several parts of western Oregon. At the home Kim shared with his parents, investigators found more than 3,000 bras and panties, many labeled with names, dates and places.

Investigators also found dryer lint, bags of used sanitary products, seven assault rifles and three computers collectively containing 40,000 images of women being mutilated, raped and dismembered.

Authorities also found underwear that belonged to a woman who lived in the same Corvallis apartment complex from which 19-year-old Wilberger disappeared in May 2004. At one time, Kim was held on a total of $15 million bail, an unusually high figure for someone accused of stealing underwear.
