Melva Faye Olson Egbert 1/15/1940~12/13/2005 Our dearly loved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Melva Faye Olson Egbert, left us for greener fairways on December 13, 2005 after a valiant battle with complications resulting from lung transplant surgery. Melva was born on January 15, 1940 to Carl Bert Olson and Melva Fernelius Olson in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Darrell Louis Egbert on Sept. 15, 1960 in Elko, NV. Melva's greatest joys were times spent with her grandkids, her 'sisters', gambling in Wendover, playing golf, and hosting the family Fourth of July Party. She loved all of the holidays and cherished getting together with family every chance she could. To her children, Danny Egbert, Andy Egbert, Jill (Jeff) Knittle, her grandchildren Chase, Daryl and Carson, her brother Carl F. (Laine) Olson, her sister Majken ( Rex) Bood, her brothers and sisters in-law LaDene Reichert, Marilyn (Lynn) Strong, Don (Sue) Egbert, Pauline Lloyd, Karon (Leland) Sullivan, her lunch and golfing buddies, and all of the friends she made throughout her rich and varied life, the world is now a lonelier place to be. She will be missed forever, but comfort is found knowing she's back with the love of her life, her late husband of 42 years, Darrell Louis Egbert. She is also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donald F. Olson. The family would like to express their most heartfelt appreciation for the care and love shown to Melva by the doctors, nurses and staff at the University of Utah Hospital's Solid Organ Transplant Program, 5 North, MICU and SICU. You did everything you could and more; your efforts were not in vain. The family would like to request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Solid Organ Transplant Program at the University Hospital. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2005 at 1:00 pm at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St., where friends may call from 12:00 to 1:00 pm prior to services. Condolences may be made to the family at www.jenkins-soffe.com
