Kearns High School has a new football coach and renewed hope he'll be able to help the Cougars win again.

Brad Molen, who was the head coach at Taylorsville High School until two years ago, has agreed to coach the Cougars next season.

"We had a strong field apply and we're happy to have him," said Kearns assistant principal Jerry Simonson. "He's won in the past, and we hope he'll win in the future."

Molen won a region championship at Taylorsville and took it to the playoffs four years in a row, including one appearance in the championship game. He was the National High School Track coach of the year three years ago.

Simonson said Molen took a couple of years off but is ready to get back into the demands of coaching two sports.

"He brings a spark of enthusiasm," Simonson said. Molen replaces Doug Bills, who resigned at the end of this past season after the Cougars finished 1-8.
