In response to Krista Jarman regarding the lack of supervision on the school playground, I have to ask whether Jarman has volunteered to help? Our public school system is underfunded and understaffed. If we parents care about the education of our children, we have to look beyond the way school volunteer programs have traditionally been run and look for nontraditional ways to get involved. The days have passed when parents can be passive observers of our children's education. Our teachers are doing the best they can. I choose to be a part of the solution, even if that means walking the playground at recess.
