The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office and Murray Police were investigating Tuesday whether a recent pair of take-down-style bank robberies were related.
The latest incident occurred Tuesday morning at U.S. Bank, 1998 E. Murray Holladay Road. Two men wearing ski masks entered the banks with semi-automatic pistols drawn and ordered everyone to the floor, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Paul Jaroscak said.
"They said, 'Everyone down, everyone down,' " Jaroscak said.
There were about three people in the bank at the time, he said.
While one gunman watched the people on the floor, the other jumped onto the teller's counter and ordered her to open the cash drawer, he said.
He then ordered the teller onto the floor and began dividing the money from dye packs, Jaroscak said.
The men were last seen running out the bank door. It was unknown Tuesday if there was a getaway car waiting for them, Jaroscak said.
Murray police had a similar incident Friday. A man wearing a ski mask entered Wells Fargo near 4600 South and 900 East and ordered everyone at gunpoint to the ground, Murray police detective Rob Hall said.
The man took an undetermined amount of cash and left. Police later found what they believed to be the getaway vehicle abandoned in a nearby neighborhood. The vehicle was stolen, Hall said.
Both agencies were working to determine if their cases were connected.
