Westminster College is holding several summer basketball camps for youth. The camps include a Youth Development Camp for younger players and a High Potential Camp for more experienced players.
The Youth Development Camp teaches fundamental skills including shooting, dribbling and passing and will run on these dates:
June 6-9: (Grades 1-3, part 1) $125, 9-11 a.m.
June 6-9: (Grades 4-6, part 1) $175, 1-5 p.m.
June 13-15: (Grades 1-3, part 2) $100, 9-11 a.m.
June 13-15: (Grades 4-6, part 2) $150, 1-5 p.m.
Aug. 8-11: (Grades 4-6, part 3) $175 1- 5 p.m.
The High Potential Camp gives experienced players more intensive instruction and competition and will run on these dates:
June 20-24: (Grades 7-8) $325, 9 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
July 5-8: (Grades 5-6) $275, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
July 11-15: Women's Camp (Grades 4-8) $125, 9 a.m. - noon
July 11-15: Women's Camp, (Grades 9-12) $175, 1:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.
July 18-22: (Grades 9-12) commuter $325, overnight-$400, 9 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
July 25-29: (Grades 7-8) $325, 9 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Aug. 1-5: Invite High Potential (Grades 9-12) commuter $325, overnight $400, 9 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
All camps will be taught by Westminster College head basketball coach Tommy Connors as well as his coaching staff and current Westminster players. Connors is a former point guard for the University of Utah. After college, Connors spent three years as the graduate assistant coach and four years as an assistant coach at the U. under Rick Majerus.
The Westminster men's basketball team (23-10) made its fifth straight trip to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Tournament this year. The team holds three Frontier Conference Championships and has been nationally ranked for the past five years.
