"24 Hour Comics Day" will be another special library event, later this month.

The City Library and Night Flight Comics will co-sponsor the library's first ever "24 Hour Comics Day" on April 23-24.

Based on a creative experiment by cartoonist Scott McCloud, this international celebration encourages each participant to create a 24-page comic book in 24 consecutive hours.

The event at the library begins April 23 at 10 a.m., and runs through 10 a.m. the next day.

Participating artists include Ryan Ottley, Derek Hunter, JJ Cano, Armando Milicevic, John Norton, Jeff Johns, Mike Lindsay, and Rachel Hunter.

The 2005 LocoMotion International Youth Film Festival will be April 21-22.

Produced by Spy Hop Productions, the festival showcases emerging visions from teenage filmmakers, celebrating artistic excellence, technical achievement, and originality through the presentation of creative, compelling shorts. In addition to two evenings of film screenings, LocoMotion also presents speakers and workshops.

All events are free and open to the public, although registration is required for workshops.
