CEDAR CITY — During a traffic stop Monday, police discovered two pounds of "suspected methamphetamine" concealed in the gas tank of a vehicle.

Two men were traveling north on I-15 in Iron County when they were stopped "on suspicion of driving under the influence," Iron County Sheriff Mark Gower said in a statement.

Consent was given to search the vehicle, and officers found approximately two pounds of what appeared to be methamphetamine in the gas tank of the Nissan Maxima. Gower estimated the street value of the drug to be nearly $90,000.

Officers arrested Jose Rodriguez-Alfredo, 30, and Alexander Hernandez, 19, for investigation of felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and a second felony for not having a drug tax stamp. The two were booked into the Iron County Jail.
