Police say a man rolled a stolen vehicle, walked away from the scene and later tested positive for driving under the influence Monday.

The 38-year-old man had taken the keys to a pickup truck from his sister's home and had driven only a few blocks before he rolled the vehicle on the 2300 East, I-80 onramp, said UHP trooper Steve Bytheway.

A witness to the accident followed the man and called police. He was arrested at his home in Salt Lake and taken to the hospital for a routine examination. He suffered a head wound and a possible broken arm.

"We are going to charge him with a DUI," said Department of Public Safety spokesman Lt. Doug McCleve. He said it was unknown whether the driver's impairment was caused by alcohol or drugs or both.

Charges of leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license are also pending.
