Virgie May Royals Hammons Will Be Missed Virgie May Royals Hammons, 91, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2005 in Minnesota. She was a long time resident of Davis County. Born and raised in Mississippi. Moved to Utah in 1963, five years after joining the LDS church. Graduated from BYU at age 52, and taught school for nine years. Lifelong student of the scriptures and a voracious reader. Recited from memory countless poems, scriptures, and uplifting thoughts until the day she died. "If you think you can or think you can't, you're right." Preceded in death by her parents; her five siblings; her husband Thomas; a grandson, Charles; a son, James Herbert, and a son-in-law, Roy Pearson. Survived by five children: Lincoln (Dorothy), Mississippi; Ruth Luthi (Rene), Spanish Fork; Martha Pearson Wesson (Lee), Tennessee; Sarah Colville (Jim), Minnesota; David (Lorna), Ogden; and a daughter-in-law, Sherie Hammons Goring (Junior), Deweyville. Cherished grandmother to 26 grandchildren, 43 great-grand-children, and three great-great-grandchildren. Her posterity truly will rise up and call her blessed on the glorious day when they are reunited with her. Funeral services and burial will take place on April 30, in Pineville, Mississippi.
