Thursday
The 50th anniversary celebration at Mount Jordan Middle School. April 14, at 8:15 a.m., an assembly with former student Lee Benson, Deseret Morning News columnist, as a guest speaker at the school, 9360 S. 300 East, Sandy. Public is invited. Assembly will also include a student dance and presentation. An open house and cultural fair the same day will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Old Timers Day. Community members can reminisce with old friends during the annual Old Timers Day at the Sandy Museum, 8744 S. 150 E. Center, Thursday, April 14. Utah Federation for Youth. One of the main resources for supporting and strengthening community service will mobilize more than 800 young people to participate in the 17th Annual National Youth Service Day, Friday, April 15, through Sunday, April 17, in Utah at the Columbus Center, 2530 S. 500 East in South Salt Lake City.

Later this spring
Photo contest — Utah Preservation magazine's annual photo contest is seeking images of Utah's most intriguing historic theaters.
Winning photographs will be published in the Division of State History's award-winning Utah Preservation magazine. They will also receive prizes, including custom digital enlargements from Borge Andersen & Associates, one of the contest sponsors.
Subjects must be historic Utah theaters (50 years or older) and there are six other rules. Complete list is available on-line at: history.utah.gov. The contest deadline date is April 15 (postmarked). For more information, call Debbie Dahl at 533-3537.
