An evening with the masters of classical music can be food for the soul. The May 28 Utah Symphony concert was just that. Pavel Kogan was at his best. His interpretation of Mendelssohn's "Italian" symphony was wonderful, and Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess" was nothing less than spectacular.
Denis Matsuev, described as a "fast-rising star on the international concert stage" was also exciting. It was a musical experience never to be forgotten. My wife and I came away with uplifted spirits in a world fraught with peril.
